Teaching use data of the Time Use Survey
Synthetic data imitating the characteristics of the original dataset and suitable for public teaching use were formed from the Time Use Survey data. Observations in the teaching use data no longer correspond with observations in the original research data, i.e. not the actual persons. There are 1,983 households (target) and 3,795 persons (member) in the teaching use data. The results of statistical analyses obtained from the teaching use data do not necessarily correspond with the results obtained from the original survey data.
Population census panel
In 1950 Finland carried out its first general direct population census for which a sample of 10 per cent was available. A one per cent random sample of persons aged 0 to 9, that is, persons belonging to the baby-boomer generation, was drawn for the teaching use data. The data contain around 0.1 per cent of the persons aged 0 to 9 that belonged to the 1950 population census, that is, around 840 persons. Data have been collected to the dataset for the sampled persons for the years 1950, 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000 and 2010.

FLEED Employment and FLEED enterprise data for teaching purposes
Statistics Finland has formed the Finnish longitudinal employer-employee data FLEED linked to research use. FLEED teaching use data were formed from these data, which include a random sample of around 8,000 persons aged 15 to 70 living in Finland between 1990 and 2010. The persons in the sample have been followed over time. In the teaching use data the data have been limited and made less detailed due to data protection, and individual persons and enterprises have also been removed. For this reason, the data cannot be used for research or studies. For data protection reasons, data for only 15 years have been selected for the data between 1990 and 2010. The year has been replaced with consecutive numbering.
The teaching use data of FLEED employment include data on the persons’ basic characteristics, family, living, employment relationships, periods of unemployment, income and education. The data are based on, for example, data from employment statistics. Personal data are linked based on the employment relationship at the end of the year to the data on enterprises and establishments.
The FLEED enterprise data teaching use data contain basic data on enterprises. Personal data are linked based on the employment relationship at the end of the year to the data on enterprises and establishments.
Labour Force Survey (LFS) and Statistics on income and Living Conditions (SILC)
Teaching use data have been produced from the Finnish Labour Force Survey (LFS) and Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (SILC) that are available on Eurostat's public microdata page.
