Sales increased in all sectors of trade in October

According to Statistics Finland, sales in total trade increased by 8.0 per cent in October from one year ago. Wholesale trade sales grew most among the sectors of trade, altogether by 11.5 per cent. Sales in motor vehicle trade, in turn, grew by 6.9 per cent in October and retail trade went up by 2.2 per cent. Among retail trade industries, sales of daily consumer goods grew by 1.1 per cent and sales in department store trade by 1.8 per cent from October 2016.

Description: The index of turnover of trade describes development in the turnover of enterprises engaged in trade. Turnover for the largest enterprises in their respective industries is described with the data collected with the sales inquiry while the data on sales obtained from the Tax Administration's self-assessed tax are exploited to describe the turnover of other enterprises. Turnover is exclusive of value-added tax. In addition, the volume index of retail trade sales, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, is produced on trade.
