In daily consumer goods trade, sales grew by 3.2 per cent from the corresponding period of the previous year, while sales in department store trade went down by 2.3 per cent. Wholesale trade sales went down by 4.0 per cent and motor vehicle trade sales by 47.3 per cent from twelve months back. The fall in motor vehicle trade sales was due to the strong growth during the reference period, which anticipated the amendment in the motor vehicle tax legislation. In total trade, sales contracted by 11.7 per cent in March.
