Cubic volume of building permits granted declined in August to October 2023 by 36 per cent year-on-year

Cubic volume covered by granted building permits grew in five regions

In August to October 2023, the cubic volume of building permits granted for newbuilding was highest in Uusimaa, Pirkanmaa and Central Finland. Of the regions, more permits in cubic volumes were granted in Åland, Central Ostrobothnia, South Karelia, Central Finland and North Karelia than one year earlier.

Measured by cubic volume, most building projects were completed in Uusimaa, Pirkanmaa and North Ostrobothnia in August to October 2023. The growth was highest in construction projects completed in Åland, South Savo and Uusimaa.

On the level of the whole country, a total of 11,006 new dwellings were completed in building projects. Among the regions, most dwellings were completed in Uusimaa, 5,053. The growth in the number of dwellings in completed building projects was highest in the regions of Lapland, South Karelia and North Karelia compared to one year ago.
