Employment grew in June 2005

According to the Labour Force Survey of Statistics Finland, the number of employed persons was in June 2,521,000, i.e. 40,000 higher than one year previously. The employment rate stood at 71.5 per cent, while it was 70.5 per cent in June 2004. In the January to June period of 2005 the average number of employed persons was 2,381,000, which is 39,000 higher than in the corresponding period of the year before.

There were 239,000 unemployed in June, i.e. almost same number than in the previous year. The rate of unemployment was 8.7 per cent, while it was 8,9 per cent one year before.
