Wages and salaries sum grew by 3.6 per cent in August to October

The wages and salaries sum of the whole economy was 3.6 per cent greater in the past August to October period than in the corresponding period twelve months back. In October alone the wages and salaries sum of the whole economy grew by 3.4 per cent. In the August to October period one year ago the wages and salaries sum fell by 2.9 per cent year-on-year.

The wages and salaries sum went up in all the industries for which statistics are compiled. The growth was fastest in construction (6.5%) and in private health and social work (5.0%). The increase in the wages and salaries sum was most moderate in manufacturing where it grew by 2.0 per cent from the comparison period of the year before.
