Output of the national economy diminished in April

Seasonally adjusted output diminished by 0.6 per cent from the month before. Adjusted for working days, output fell by 9.2 per cent from April 2008. April 2009 had two working days less than the corresponding month of the previous year. According to the original series, output was 11.2 per cent smaller than in April of the year before. The data derive from Statistics Finland's Trend Indicator of Output. The data are preliminary and will become revised later.

According to revised data, output adjusted for working days fell in March by 8.2 per cent (previously -10.9%) and the original series fell by 5.6 per cent (previously -11.1%) from March 2008. The main reason for the revision was benchmarking to quarterly accounts. In addition, the source data became revised upwards in several industries, especially in manufacturing and other services.
