Description

The statistics on quarterly local government finances describe the quarterly development of the finances of municipalities and joint municipal authorities in Mainland Finland.

Data content

The statistics on quarterly local government finances comprise data on the items of profit and loss accounts, cash flow statements and balance sheets of municipalities and joint municipal authorities and of their enterprises that are included in the enterprise sector. The statistics on quarterly local government finances are a renewed version of the statistics on quarterly local government finances.

Classifications used

The classification used in the statistics is Statistics Finland’s classification of the statistics on quarterly local government finances.

Data collection methods and data sources

The collection of the data for the first to third quarters is based on a sample. Data are collected from the sample municipalities and joint municipal authorities with a web form. The methods are described in more detail in the quality description. For the fourth quarter, data are collected from all municipalities and joint municipal authorities in Mainland Finland.

Data are published around two months after the end of each quarter.
