In most industries the sample comprises enterprises employing at least 30 wage and salary earners - in industries dominated by small enterprises (construction, wholesale and retail trade, hotel and restaurant activities, real estate activities, professional, scientific and technical activities, administrative and support services) enterprises employing at least 20 wage and salary earners.
The Statistics Act obliges Statistics Finland to treat the provided data as confidential.
What are the data used for?
Statistics Finland uses the collected data to compile an index describing changes in labour costs for an hour worked. The first results were published in June 2009. In addition, printouts are provided from the data for the Index of Wage and Salary Earnings, national accounts statistics and business trend statistics.
