Hundred-year-old Finland in the statistics

The European Statistics Day is held on 20 October 2016. On the Statistics Day, Statistics Finland will publish the Hundred-year-old Finland website to which statistical data on the development of our country and the life of Finns are collected during the centenary of our independence in 2017.

The decades of Finland’s independence have seen several social, economic and technological changes. They are also clearly visible in the statistics describing society. Throughout the centenary, the Hundred-year-old Finland website presents the time of independence in the light of statistics, as well as centenary events. For example, the website contains the Statistical Yearbook of Finland published in 1917 and information on the statistical poster competition intended for schoolchildren.

Celebration for the entire Finland

The centenary of independent Finland is a celebration for the entire nation. Many organisations and associations organise centenary events. The celebrations are collected and coordinated by the Finland 100 project of the Prime Minister's Office.

Statistics Finland is also involved in presenting Finland and Finnishness from the viewpoint of statistical data on the suomifinland100.fi website established in honour of the centenary.
