Employment grew in September 2006

According to the Labour Force Survey of Statistics Finland, the number of employed persons was 2,438,000 in September, i.e. 38,000 higher than one year before. The employment rate stood at 68.7 per cent, while it was 68.0 per cent in September 2005. Adjusted for seasonal variation, the employment rate was 69.1 per cent.

The number of unemployed persons was 179,000 in September, 5,000 fewer than one year before. The rate of unemployment was 6.8 per cent, while it was 7.1 per cent one year earlier.
