Turnover of construction enterprises grew by 3.9 per cent year-on-year in March to May

According to Statistics Finland, the turnover of construction enterprises grew by 3.9 per cent in March to May. In the corresponding period one year earlier, the growth amounted to 8.1 per cent. The sales volume of construction fell by 0.6 per cent in March to May.

The turnover of building construction went up by 9.4 per cent and that of specialised construction activities by 3.9 per cent from the previous year. In contrast, turnover continued to develop weakly in the civil engineering industry. In March to May, turnover decreased by 16.4 per cent from twelve months back.

In March to May, the sales volume of construction enterprises grew most in building construction, by 4.7 per cent. The sales volume of civil engineering contracted by 17.8 per cent and that of specialised construction activities by 0.7 per cent.

The volume index of enterprises’ sales is calculated by removing the effect of price changes from the turnover index series.
