The turnover of construction enterprises grew by 12.4 per cent in the August to October period of 2008 when compared with the corresponding three-month period of the year before. In October 2008, construction enterprises' turnover grew by 4.3 per cent from the previous October. These data derive from the preliminary index of turnover of construction compiled by Statistics Finland.
In the August to October period the turnover of building construction enterprises grew by 11.7 per cent and that of civil engineering construction enterprises by 14.4 per cent from the corresponding period of the year before.
The sales volume of construction enterprises grew by 6.6 per cent in the August to October period when compared with the same period of the year before. The sales volume of building construction enterprises in the corresponding period grew by 7.2 per cent and that of civil engineering construction enterprises by 4.4 per cent. In October 2008 the sales volume of construction enterprises fell by 1.6 per cent from October 2007. The sales volume of building construction enterprises fell by 4 per cent in October and that of civil engineering enterprises grew by 7.2 per cent when compared with October 2007.
The volume index of enterprises' sales is calculated by removing the effect of price changes from the turnover index series. The costs of building construction increased by 3.3 per cent from October 2007 to October 2008 and those of civil engineering construction increased by 9.7 per cent.

Starting from data concerning January 2009, the revised TOL 2008 standard classification of industries and base year 2005=100 will be introduced in these statistics.
