Building costs rose by 0.7 per cent in December year-on-year

According to Statistics Finland, building costs rose by 0.7 per cent in December 2017 from one year back. The prices of materials rose by 2.2 per cent and those of services by 1.3 per cent compared with December of the previous year. At the same time, the prices of labour inputs fell by 1.3 per cent. The fall in the prices of labour inputs is explained by lower employer’s social security costs compared with 2016.

From November to December, the total index of building costs remained almost unchanged. The prices of materials rose by 0.1 per cent in a month. The prices of labour inputs and services remained at the same level as in November.
