Turnover in service industries increased by 4,6 per cent year-on-year in August to October
According to Statistics Finland, turnover in service industries grew by 4.6 per cent in August to October from the corresponding time period of the year before. At that time, the increase from the previous year had been 1.1 per cent. Of industries, professional, scientific and technical activities (+9.7%) and administrative and support service activities (+9.1%) still faired best. The least growth was recorded for the industry of transportation and storage, which grew, however, by 0.8 per cent from one year ago. At that time, the fall had been 2.9 per cent. Services are here examined exclusive of trade.

The main industry of professional, scientific and technical activities was still boosted by the 15.9 per cent growth in other professional, scientific and technical activities. The industry of scientific research and development also developed positively (15.1%). In the main industry of administrative and support service activities, growth was generated in employment activities (+18.8%), security and investigation activities (+13.5 %), and renting and leasing activities (13.2 %).
Real estate activities continued to grow. The growth amounted to five per cent compared with the corresponding time period of the year before.
In the main industry of transportation and storage, the turnover of water transport contracted by 9.1 per cent. Warehousing and support activities for transportation grew further. The growth amounted to 2.2 per cent.
