Statistics Finland’s operations are funded with appropriations from the national budget, income from the agency’s charged activities, and with funding received from other government authorities and the EU. In 2019 seventy three per cent of the funding came as appropriations for operating expenses, that is, from the national budget. Revenue from charged activities made up 12 per cent and external financing four per cent of the total funds available. Eleven per cent of the funding was carried forward from the previous year.
At the end of 2019, the personnel of Statistics Finland numbered 812. The number of staff-years totalled 755, of which interviewers in data collection accounted for 98. Women made up nearly 60 per cent of the total personnel of whom nearly 80 per cent had at least lowest level tertiary or university qualification.
