Description

Quarterly statistics on the finances of municipalities describe development in the finances of Finnish municipalities exclusive of municipal enterprises in the whole country by quarter according to the execution of budgets. The data from these statistics are used for quarterly monitoring of municipal finances, as source data for quarterly national accounts, for quarterly statistics of the EU on general government income and expenditure, and for the EU’s quarterly financial accounts of general government

Data content

The quarterly statistics on the finances of municipalities contain data describing municipalities’ profit and loss accounts and investments, as well as their liabilities and certain receivables by quarter. The data are public.

Classifications used

Transactions are classified in the statistics by the classification of income and expenditure items for municipal finances (classifications of the statistics on the finances and activities of municipalities and joint municipal boards, and the model for a chart of accounts for municipalities and joint municipal boards, the Association of Finnish Local Authorities).

Data collection methods and data sources

Based on a sample. The data are collected from the sampled municipalities with a web questionnaire.

Good two months after the end of each quarter.
