Description of the data collection
The inquiry on enterprises' research and development requests information on R&D expenditure and its funding, research personnel and R&D staff-years.
Statistics on research and development are based on the European Union’s Regulations (Decision No 1608/2003/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council and Commission Implementing Regulation No 995/2012).
The data collection is started yearly in March. The statistical period used is a calendar year.

The data supply obligation of enterprises is based on the Finnish Statistics Act (280/2004, Section 14).
The Statistics Act obliges Statistics Finland to treat the data as confidential.
