Data collection from employment pension schemes
Description of the data collection
The data collection inquires about financial data describing the activities of the units providing statutory employment pension insurance, such as income, expenditure and investments. The data are collected monthly, in addition to which a more extensive and detailed annual summary is collected.
The statistics are based on EU Regulations concerning quarterly sector accounts EC) No 1221/2002 (quarterly non-financial accounts for general government) and 1161/2005 (compilation of quarterly non-financial accounts by institutional sector).
The deadline for the quarterly data and the annual summary data is one and a half months after the period ended. The data are collected with Excel forms.
From whom are data collected?
All units in the public and private sector providing statutory employment pension, such as pension insurance companies, pension funds and pension foundations, have been selected to the inquiry.
The obligation to provide data is based on the Statistics Act (280/2004).
The Statistics Act (280/2004) obliges Statistics Finland to treat the data as confidential. The data concerning an individual person cannot be identified in the statistics to be published.
What are the data used for?
The data are used to compile quarterly national accounts, and general government deficit and debt statistics. The statistics are used for short-term examination of the finances of social security funds.
