Use of information technology in enterprises
Description of the data collection
Use of information technology in enterprises as a key objective of the study is to investigate the use of ICT by enterprises, as well as e-commerce and ICT.
The survey is EU harmonised, so it is implemented with uniform data contents and methods in all EU countries. Use of information technology in enterprises are based on Regulations of the European Union, which in part require the collection of the data in question (EC) No 808/2004 No 1006/2009.
The survey is carried out annually and data collection will start in February. The questionnaire will be answered in electronic form on the Internet.
From whom are data collected?
The survey consists of enterprises that conduct business in the manufacturing, mining and quarrying, electricity, gas and heat supply and water and waste management, construction, wholesale and retail trade and service sectors.
Data is collected from all of at least a hundred more employees, 10 – 99 employees of enterprises employing extracted from the sample. The survey involved around 4 000 – 4 500 enterprises.
The data supply obligation of enterprises is based on the Finnish Statistics Act (280/2004, Section 14).
The Statistics Act obliges Statistics Finland to treat the data as confidential and use them only for statistical and research purposes.
What are the data used for?
The information is used development of the IT sector and e-commerce in drawing up the following statistics.
Statistical data delivered Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities and statistics used in public administration, organizations, research institutes and business both in Finland and even in international comparison.
