Renovation building of construction enterprises

Description

The statistics on renovation building of construction enterprises inquire about the value of renovation building of medium-size and large construction enterprises (with at least 10 employees), that is, the turnover from renovation building to those enterprises. The data are used, inter alia, by construction industry organisations, major construction enterprises and national accounts for evaluating the total volume of renovation building. The statistics are annual and cover around 800 construction enterprises. The basic frame of the statistics is formed by Statistics Finland's Business Register. The inquiry is made together with the inquiry on financial statements statistics carried out by Statistics Finland's Business Structures department. The background data of the enterprises derive from Statistics Finland's financial statement database. The enterprises are classified into industrial groups on the basis of their main type of activity. The industrial classification of construction is based on the Council Regulation (EEC) No 1165/98, according to which the production variable of construction must be divided into building construction and civil engineering production. Enterprises' obligation to provide data is based on the Statistics Act (280/2004), which obliges Statistics Finland to treat the data as confidential. The data can be returned on paper forms. Since the 2006 inquiry it has also been possible to return data through the electronic response service.
