18 Dec 2015 People of foreign background, having lived in Finland for a long time find employment well

It is more difficult for persons of foreign background to find employment than for persons of Finnish background. However, the employment of persons of foreign background, who have lived in Finland for over ten years is close to the employment rate of persons of Finnish background.

29 Sep 2015 Exhibition of the history of statistics

The "Portrait of a nation – 150 years of statistics on Finland" exhibition showcases the evolution of Finnish statistical production and, for example, the beginnings of national income and census calculation. In addition, the exhibition offers a chance to meet the average Finn from 1900, 1956 and 2014. The exhibition produced in cooperation with the Bank of Finland is open at the Bank of Finland Museum from 29 September 2015 to 30 April 2016.

31 Mar 2015 Statistics Finland will terminate 19 employment relationships

After the co-operation negotiations that ended in February, Statistics Finland announced that it was preparing to give notice to at most 21 employees on financial and production grounds. Now, the number of persons to be dismissed has been confirmed to be seven, and the employment of 12 persons will end as a result of other arrangements.

According to the Nordic Gender Equality in Figures publication, around 40 per cent of Members of Parliament are women in the Nordic countries, while the average for the EU countries is 23 per cent. In Sweden, the share of female Members of Parliament is the highest, 45 per cent. In Finland, 42.5 per cent of the Members of Parliament are women.

Statistics Finland's co-operation negotiations have ended. As a result of these negotiations, Statistics Finland considers at most the dismissal of 21 employees. At the start of the negotiations, the need for redundancies was estimated to be 45 persons.

5 Feb 2015 Production of the statistics on building and dwelling production suspended

Statistics Finland will suspend the production of data for the statistics on building and dwelling production for the time being. The data is unable to be produced and released because the Population Register Centre cannot deliver the building register data used as the data source of the statistics. The statistics will be produced again when the quality of the released data can be ensured.

27 Jan 2015 Court statistics discontinued

Statistics Finland discontinues the production and publication of statistics on court decisions in 2015. The reason for the discontinuation is that required funding has not been acquired to produce the statistics.
